THE DEAL & THE FLAW

The FUNKY CHECKS IMPERFECTS prove that even imperfect pairs deserve love!

We’ve identified a potential flaw in these styles which is tragic for us...but a WIN for you! During manufacturing, the printed cotton on some pairs in this batch wasn’t properly reinforced, creating a risk that the fabric may tear under tension around the ankle area. Most pairs in this batch will be completely fine, but we've heavily discounted the entire run so they can live out their best lives on your feet, and not in our warehouse.

  • Prevention: ALWAYS untie your laces fully before putting shoes on or taking them off to avoid strain on the opening.
  • Easy Fix: If tearing occurs, it can easily be repaired with crafty hand-stitching, a decorative patch, or a quick visit to a local cobbler. The shoes remain fully functional (we’ve been testing them).

PaperKrane shoes fit differently than conventional footwear - our barefoot design means a wider toe box and more natural foot shape.

Materials & Shoe Care

PATTERNED AND PRINTED STYLES: To preserve vibrancy of patterns and prints and longevity of printed styles, we recommend protecting and waterproofing them prior to wear.

VEGAN LEATHER STYLES: While naturally water-resistant, we recommend protecting and waterproofing your vegan leather PKs prior to wear.

TO WATERPROOF & PROTECT YOUR PKs apply a fabric or vegan-leather appropriate waterproof protector before first wear and reapply regularly.

We recommend the following products:

  • KIWI Sneaker Protector as a great all-purpose option
  • Collonil Organic Cream for vegan leather styles
  • Kiwi Protector Extreme is specially formulated for cotton, canvas, mesh and nylon styles

This one step makes a real difference to how long they look and last, don't skip it!

HOW TO CLEAN PKs

  • Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap for everyday marks
  • For a deeper clean, hand wash gently in cold water with mild detergent and air dry completely

CAUTION: Avoid machine washing, dryers, and harsh chemicals.

KEEPING YOUR PKS FRESH

  • We recommend wearing socks! Simple but effective to keep sweaty feet and odor at bay.
  • We also suggest rotating (or alternating) your pairs so they can dry and air out between wears, this is especially important if they've gotten wet or are in high moisture or humid environments.
