There's way more than 5 reasons our feet fell in love with the barefoot shoe way of life... but these 5 are pretty key points.
1. FOOT-SHAPED: When our shoes are shaped like a foot, and wider in the toe box, they don’t put the same pressure on our toes. Your toes have more room to move, you won’t develop bunions or ingrown toenails, and we love that your feet can utilise that big toe for stability. (This helps to activate your arches, too!)
2. FLAT: In barefoot terms this is called “ZERO DROP”. It means there is no difference in height between the heel and the forefoot, meaning you can use your whole foot to balance. Unlike most modern footwear that tips your weight over the ball of your foot. This can cause your entire body to make minute changes to stay “upright”. This changes the pressures on our feet, legs, hips, back and so on. So FLAT is good for more than just your feet.
3. FLEXIBLE AF: Now, our feet don’t need to move like a contortionist, but it helps if your shoes can move in the same way your feet do. If you’re bending, stretching, rolling, digging in your toes, it’s nice to have a shoe that can move with you. Your foot doesn’t need excessive cushioning underneath, or big stiff soles, this is a recipe for foot pain. Flex your foot muscles for strong, healthy feet.
4. FEATHER LIGHT: A lightweight shoe enables the wearer to move without having to change their gait. There’s less forces on your joints, and the thin lightweight sole allows you to FEEL the ground underneath. We begin to tread a little lighter, take shorter steps, and enjoy all of that great sensory information that our brains get from the soles of our feet.
5. FUNCTIONAL + FASHIONABLE: As we mentioned above, all of these ‘F’eatures are beneficial to the human body. Allowing your feet to move, and grow, and splay in the way it should without interference, and we believe you should be able to look great while feeling great. Our slogan is, “Bringing Street to Bare Feet”, and that’s what our shoes embody, the desire to have a foot healthy shoe, but to also have a shoe that looks fashionable.
